Mr. Robert E. “Bob” Schalk, age 68, of Taylorville, died at 8:30 a.m. Saturday May 14, 2011 at Taylorville Care Center in Taylorville.

 Bob was born December 27, 1942 in Taylorville, the son of Kenneth and Mildred Lowrance Schalk.  He worked as a custodian for the Taylorville School District for 22 years.  He also owned and operated Top Quality Cleaning in Taylorville for many years.  He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Taylorville

 Surviving is a son Kevin Schalk of Taylorville; one grandson; sister, Sally (husband Dwight) Bethel of Taylorville and several nieces and nephews.  His parents, a brother, Theodore “Teddy” Schalk and sister, Linda Lou Sanders, preceded him in death.

 Memorial services were held at 11:00 am Thursday, May 19, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church in Taylorville.  Pastor Bob Spurgin officiated.

 I remember that Bob would brighten my day while I was a student at TJHS in the early 70's.  His friendly attitude was a real help to me when I was the new kid in town.  I probably haven't talked to him in 10 years, but I couldn't tell that he ever changed.  Your family is in my prayers.  -  Ben Cruikshank
