Edith M. Smothers

 Mrs. Edith M. Smothers, 97, of Taylorville, IL, formerly of Kincaid and Bulpitt, IL passed away at 2:25 AM Thursday, September 6, 2012 in Taylorville Care Center.

 Edith was born in Taylorville, IL November 29, 1914 the daughter of James and Fay (Hodson) Griffiths.  She married Jesse “Larry” Smothers December 11, 1933 in Taylorville, IL.

 Mrs. Smothers was a Charter Member of the Kincaid Church of God. 

 Surviving are her husband of 78 years Larry of Taylorville, IL children Richard (Joyce) Smothers of Springfield, IL Gary (Gigi) Smothers of Taylorville, Faye (Danny) Hay of Kincaid, IL Beverly Wiggs of Mascoutah, IL 8 grandchildren Mike (Lori) Smothers of Taylorville, IL, Debbie (Joe) Champley of Taylorville, IL, David (Jane) Hay of Chatham, IL, Greg (Janet) Hay of Quincy, IL Regina (Lee) Peterson of Mascoutah, IL Kevin (Janette) Wiggs of Belleville, IL Neth Wiggs of Republic, MO, and Bill (Becky) Wiggs of Olney, IL along with 17 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her parents and 5 brothers, 1 sister and a great-granddaughter.

 Funeral services were held at 11:00 AM Monday September 10, 2012 in the Kincaid Church of God. Pastor Michael Mayberry officiated, assisted by Rev. Bill Wiggs.  Visitation was held for one hour before the service at the church.  Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Taylorville, IL  Memorials may be made to Kincaid Church of God, P.O. Box 589. Kincaid, IL 62540   

 

 

 

Guest Register / Memories / Notes to the Family:   God has another Saint in Heaven. Edith will be missed by those that are here But there in a lot of rejoicing in Glory.  God has taken unto him a Grand Lady.  May God Bless all of you that are left here But remember there is only joy in Heaven I remember Edith love to sing \"when we all get to Heaven what a Day of rejoicing there will Be\" God be with you  -  Darlene wise Horner
