John W. Hanlon

 Mr. John W. Hanlon, age 76, of Kincaid, died at 11:07 a.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at the home of his son, Jack Hanlon, in Tovey, IL.

 John was born November 28, 1936 in Taylorville, IL, the son of Fred J and Doris M. Finley Hanlon.  John graduated from South Fork Community High School in 1954.  He then attended Eastern Illinois University at Charleston for three years. 

 He married Karen Brown in 1958 at Taylorville.  They later divorced.  He married Merry J. “Molly” Youdisky in 1967 at Springfield, IL.   She preceded him in death on February 25, 2012. 

 He was a coal miner, retiring from Peabody Coal Mine No. 10 at Pawnee, IL in 1998.  He was a member of Illinois State Mine Rescue.  John belonged to, and was a very active member of, St. Rita Catholic Church in Kincaid.  He belonged to The Legion Of Mary.  He was Treasurer,  Recording Secretary, and a hard working member of Local #9819 of the United Mine Workers Of America. 

 Surviving are his sons, Jon William Hanlon of Springfield, Jack (Teresa) Hanlon of Tovey, Pat (Theresa) Hanlon of Tovey; daughters, Mary Don Hanlon of Tovey, Laura (David) Castleberry of Roodhouse, Terri Patton of Woodridge, Sally Patton of Downers Grove; Grandchildren, Jessica (Russell) Mackelden of Nebo, Jack Brown of Tovey, Krystal (Josh) Mulvaney of Kincaid, Zack Hanlon of Jacksonville, Stephanie (Rusty) Goode of White Hall, Tiffany (Allen) Staate of Hillview,  Bridgette Steele of Taylorville and Andrea Hanlon of Bonsall, CA.; 6 great-grandchildren; sisters, Janet (James) Sexton of Kincaid, Mary Mae Johnson of Riverton and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 A Mass Of Christian Burial was held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 26, 2013, in St. Rita Catholic Church in Kincaid.  Fr. Alan Hunter officiated.  Cremation was accorded after Mass and burial of the ashes will take place at a later date. 

 There was a Prayer Service held at 4:45 p.m. Friday January 25, 2013 in Masterson Funeral Home at Kincaid; followed by a visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
